Meet the adorable animals with waived or reduced adoption fees

ROCKVILLE, MD – For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to pick up your new family member is at the Montgomery County Adoption Center. The facility is home to dozens of cats, dogs, and other adorable creatures. And all of them need a forever home.

During the month of August, the county-run facility is reducing — or in some cases waiving — its adoption fees. It’s all part of the annual Clear The Shelters event. Sponsored by NBC, Clear The Shelters helps adoption centers nationwide find forever, loving homes for homeless animals.

In Montgomery County, adoption fees will be waived for animals that have been at the shelter for at least six weeks. The first 50 animals adopted this month will also have their fees waived, officials say.

All other pet adoption fees will be reduced by 50% until August 30.

Here are some of the adorable animals to adopt:

Benz’s adoption fees are waived.

Here’s what the shelter has to say:

Benz is a charming 3-year-old boy with a heart as big as he is! He stole the hearts of the staff members here at the Adoption Center, and is sure to steal yours too if you give him the chance. Benz doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and is just a fat old lovebug looking for a forever home to call his own. Benz is a smart pant who knows a few tricks and will happily show them off in exchange for treats. He is an independent boy who likes to smell and explore everything around our yard.

She loves having zooms, playing with toys and loves to play play play! She always has a smile on her face and a cue every minute.

Mazzie’s perfect human would be someone who needs a loyal best friend for life! She has an infectious and cheerful personality and would like to find a human being who appreciates her boundless joy. Mazzie would do best in a home that has time for playtime and exercise, as she really loves bouncing and running to burn off her pup’s energy. Her future family will wonder how they could have done without her!

Above all, Mazzie just wants a human forever to love!

Here’s what the shelter has to say:

Jesse is a very friendly and talkative girl who loves pets and turns into a purring machine when she attracts attention! She has staff wrapped around her little paw, and she looks forward to spending time with any human who visits her kennel. Her quiet meow, round little face and big green eyes will melt your heart as much as her sweet personality.

Jesse’s perfect human is just about anyone willing to give him some attention and lots of scratches! She’s an easy-going, laid-back cat that just wants a warm ride to spend all her days cuddling up.

Petunia and Brewster’s adoption fees are waived.

Here’s what the shelter has to say:

Petunia and Brewster are 11-year-old love bundles! They have been living together in foster care for a few months and have their adoptive mother wrapped around their paws! They are quite couch potatoes and love to spend their days quietly napping together. Not a big fan of long walks in the summer heat or winter snow? No problem – Petunia and Brewster either! They would be just as happy to cuddle up and relax.

Petunia and Brewster have been together for many years and would rather find a forever home together.

If you have room in your hearts and homes for elderly lovers who are ready to finally have their forever families, please submit an adoption questionnaire and let our adoption counselors set you up an appointment to meet Petunia and Brewster.
