Men’s tennis loses competitive road match 5-2 to Xavier

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Ball State men’s tennis team (4-3) lost a competitive match 5-2 Friday afternoon to Xavier (5-2) at Eastern Hills.

The Cardinals started the doubles competition with a solid win first on the No. 1 court after the duo of Danilo Kovacevic and chris adams notched a 6-1 loss to Xavier’s Ryan Cahill and Diego Nava.

Although the scores were close for Ball State on courts two and three, the Musketeers managed to pick up wins at both positions to earn the doubles point over BSU.

Ball State tied the game 1-1 after Thibault de NegriI won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 against No. 2 Cahill. Cincinnati responded quickly and regained a one-point lead (2-1) with the Musketeers’ victory on Court 1.

After that, Eli Herran tied the game for the second time with his 6-4, 6-2 draw against Pascal Mosberger at the No. 5 position.

With three courts remaining, the two Nathaniel Webster and Vince Orlando were each in three thrillers on their respective grounds. Unfortunately, the Cardinals couldn’t win the remaining games today.

Ball State’s men’s tennis team continues action Sunday against IUPUI at 1 p.m. ET in Pendleton, Ind. The match will be played at the Community Sports Wellness Center.
