OpTic Chicago clinched a dominant 3-0 victory over the New York Subliners in the Call of Duty Group match of the fifth stage of the League today.

OpTic, a team that has consistently placed in the top five in the CDL standings all season long, ultimately clinched a decisive victory against one of the league’s top four teams. It was the team many expected to see all season long, winning games with emphatic numbers. Aside from Scump, who posted a 1.02 streak K / D, the other three members of OpTic all had a K / D of 1.34 or better. Envoy, thanks to a 35-17 performance on Raid Control, led Chicago with a K / D of 1.63 on all three cards in the series.

“Just to keep playing as we train is the most important thing,” FormaL said of the team’s focus going into the last leg of the season. “Because we look great in the scrims, it’s just when it comes to games, sometimes I think we get ahead and we don’t really like playing the way we usually do.”

New York continues to struggle recently, with the latest result being its third straight loss dating back to the Stage Four Major. The Subliners have consistently performed as a top-five team all season, but appear to have taken a step back with the start of stage five. Asim, who was unable to make the Stage Four Major due to travel issues, is still getting back into the lineup, which could be partly to blame for the Subliners’ issues.

This game was also marred by connectivity issues which caused a delay of almost an hour between cards one and two. This is the second time New York has faced a delay in so many playoffs. “Currently in a game right now,” Clayster tweeted during the interruption. “But I feel like a canvas for how my AMA time is on fire.”

New York takes on the London Royal Ravens on July 17 at 2:00 p.m. CT. Chicago will be back in action next week when it takes on the Atlanta FaZe on July 18 at 3:30 p.m. CT.
