Volleyball opens C-USA Play at LA Tech on Friday, host UAB on Sunday

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Charlotte volleyball opens the Conference USA 2022 schedule by heading to Louisiana Tech at 7:00 p.m. Friday before hosting UAB at 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. A total of 14 league matches will determine the eight entrants that make it to the annual C-USA tournament with this season featuring the return of all teams playing each other at least once.

“I’m excited about how we’ve positioned ourselves heading into the conference,” the head coach began. Karen Weatherington. “We really persevered through some moments and showed a lot of tenacity against really tough teams, but we definitely managed to stick together.”

NON-CONFERENCE PREPARATION FOR THE CONFERENCE

Charlotte (6-6) battled her way through a crushing non-conference schedule that featured seven power-five, five-point ACC opponents that included wins over Syracuse and Virginia. Emani’ Foster’s The incredible start to 2022 has him currently second in the nation with 248 eliminations on the year and 278 points in 12 games. Foster is third in total kills at 605, fourth in points per set at 5.91 and kills per set at 5.28.





PERSPECTIVES TECH
Louisiana Tech enters the league’s first weekend 6-8 overall on the year with a pair of rivalry wins over ULM as well as victories over Presbyterian, Grambling State, Central Arkansas and Southern. The Lady Techsters hold a 4-3 all-time advantage against the Niners, but Charlotte has one each of the bottom three going into Friday night.



FLAMBOYANT FOR CHARLOTTE
UAB starts with league-favorite WKU Friday night at home before heading to Charlotte on Sunday. The Blazers are 5-7 on the year with wins over Cleveland State, Jackson State, Little Rock, North Florida and Florida A&M. Sunday will mark the 34th meeting in the all-time rivalry dating back to 1979. Charlotte trails the 19-14 series but has won four straight against the Blazers since 2017.
