WWE Women’s Tag Title Tournament Match Announced For 8/15 Raw

The tournament to crown the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions continues next week as Alexa Bliss and Asuka face off against the team of Nikki ASH and Doudrop. The winners of the fight will advance to face Dakota Kai and IYO SKY in the second round of the tournament. SKY & Kai’s team qualified after defeating Tamina & Dana Brooke in a first round match on the 8/8 episode “WWE Raw”.

On the “SmackDown” side of the bracket, WWE announced first-round matches pitting Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah against Xia Li and Shotzi, and Natalya and Sonya Deville against NXT’s Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark. WWE has yet to announce the date for those matches, but they are expected to begin later this week on Blue Brand.

While WWE has yet to confirm a date for the tournament finals, it looks like the new Women’s Tag Team Champions will be crowned ahead of the Castle Clash. That’s mainly because Bliss, Asuka, SKY, and Kai will all be involved in a six-man match at the September 3 premium live event in Cardiff, Wales.

WWE also announced an “exclusive interview” segment with Riddle for next week. The Original Bro has been on the shelf since Rollins’ vicious attack last month, which caused their SummerSlam match to be postponed to a later date. Although he was sidelined with an injury, Riddle appeared at SummerSlam — with a taped shoulder and neck — to call out Rollins. However, his bravado would end in poor results as he would be the recipient of another Stomp from Rollins. Although WWE has yet to announce the date of the match, it is expected to take place at the Clash at the Castle.

Rollins appeared to mock Riddle’s announced return to this week’s show, as seen in the video below.
